History
Maryland’s Best Karate was founded in 1989 by Dojangnim (Founder) Gerald “Awesome” Dawson (10th Dan) , a NASKA Super Heavy Weight fighting World Champion. Dojangnim Dawson , first priority was to serve the community and bring structure and love to under privileged youth. As years went on Dojangnim Dawson went on to build an amazing martial arts empire that still stands today. We always remember our most honorable instructor and thank him for paving the way for later generations to come .

The Legacy Continues
After Dojangnim’s untimely passing in 2018 his son Kwanjangnim, Kameren Dawson who is also the current NASKA Super Heavy Weight Fighting champion stepped into the leadership position in order to run to school full-time , with the help of his brother Sahbanim, Jerrell Dawson and his uncle Sahbanim David Currie III as his Captain and Lieutenant. Maryland’s Best Karate currently has 200 + students and continues to be a pillar within the community . Teaching great knowledge of SelfDefense but most importantly , life skills that stay with their students forever !
